Fall on fire

 

The Falls here in Arkansas are so pretty!

The trees in our neighborhood are this fire red right now and I love it. Look at the picture below- do you see those trees in the background- don't they look like they are on fire?

 

There is one tree out in our front yard that just changed colors in the past 2 days and I love looking out our front door at it- it looks almost as if it is on fire!

There is a small window right above our front door and every time I'm inside and would walk past our front door, I'd have to take a double take at the magnificent colors that were shooting in from the tree.

 

Arkansas' nickname is "The Natural State". Mother Nature certainly manifests her beauty in the deciduous trees right now.

 Above is a little fall wreath I made for our front door.

 

 The tree out front has become a makeshift jungle gym for the kids. I hung up a baby swing which Alice likes to hang out in and then tied up a makeshift rope swing (from some climbing rope and a swimming kick board) which Johnny loves to hang out on as we wait for Jimmy to get home on the Bus.

This is how Alice gets around nowadays.  I guess this can be expected for a baby sister when your 2 older brothers who are chomping at the bit to play with you since the day you were born. (And that pose below on the video is so classic- I didn't even choose it on purpose, it is the screen that youtube assigned the video. Alice totally looks like a deer in headlights!)

to my doorstep?!

I am probably going to sound like a "saleslady" when I share this, but I got really excited to see this.  I should probably first disclose that yes, my husband works for walmart, but he has nothing to do with me posting this- I don't even know if he knows about this new walmart offer yet (I just saw it on the news).  So he isn't twisting my arm or paying me nickles to post this on the blog :).

I have loved using Walmart's free shipping from site to store, as it seems like Walmart always has the best price online.  And now it just got even better!  They are offering free shipping to home, meaning your doorstep on almost all of their items.  So things like diapers are free to deliver straight to your door!  Here's a link to an article just released on it.

Yes at it again! Well I couldn't go all the way up to Simply Create and not shop,now could I!!! Delivered my creations to shop and got a lovely greeting from Jacqui and Anne, spent ages browsing, don't want to miss anything! Always something new to tempt, came away with some more of these altered boxes to make for Christmas and a couple of boards, yummy ribbon, how much can a crafter want, will

Quiet book blog

I made a quiet book for my kids in 2007.  At the time, there was nothing on the internet about how to make quiet books.  I patterned mine after my moms and decided after finishing that since there wasn't much out there in terms of instructions, I would make my own.  So in 2008, I started the quietbook.blogspot.com blog and have slowly been putting up instructions on all 24 pages the past 3 years.  Today I finally got page #24, the last page up.

But it's kind of funny- I get around 800 hits a day on that blog.  Crazy- there are so many people making quiet books now!

I'm going to keep on updating the quiet book blog from time to time still- I'll highlight different pages of quiet books I've found to be really great (if you have one you think is fabulous, and you want me to highlight, send me the link to: fowlerfam at gmaildotcom).  I'm also going to try and get templates up on each page.

It's just a little humble, little silly blog.  I hope I don't sound to howty towty about it.  Just kind of fun to update on the side and hear from people from all over the world and their quiet book endeavors through it.
