Baby Johnny and Daddy
Johnny says this phrase just about every day. He loves to tell me what he is going to be or do when he "grows up to be daddy". Today he told me "mom, guess what. When I grow up to be daddy I'm going to be an astronaut." You reach for the stars Johnny. The other day as we were running errands in the car, he was on a roll:
While stopped at a stoplight, he was looking out the window at the big cement truck next to us: "Mom, when I grow up to be daddy, I'm not gonna drive that truck...(minute pause).. actually I am."
A couple minutes later as we're passing the army national guard place that has a bunch of army cars out front), "when I grow up to be daddy, I'm going to be an army guy. Yeah-hah! (in a boy voice), dat is cool." after admiring the cool army jeeps. He is pretty into "army guys", and he loves to play "Gee-Ji-Joes". He makes them do all sorts of things including get shot out of his car launchers like they are olympic lugers or something.
And then this one later on: "When I grow up and be daddy, I'm going to play basketball and be on Daddy's team."
As we were getting dressed from swimming lessons, he had just his shorts on, the following dialogue:
Johnny: "When I grow up to be daddy, I'm going to be a wrestler. Some wrestlers wear shorts like this". Me: "Honey, you can be a daddy and a wrestler- a dad that wrestles his kids!"
Johnny: "Yeah-hah! I am!" (boy voice again)
End of the car ride:
Johnny: "Mom, It's kind of hard to decide on what I'm going to be a daddy."
Me: It's okay darlin', you've got lots of time to figure that one out.
Then tonight at dinner:
Johnny: "Hey Dad, is there a Daddy's room with Daddy toys at your work?"
James: "No." pause "Hmmmm, that's not a bad idea..."
And the other night at dinner time, James and I were making a public announcement of love (we kinda like to kiss in front of the boys- they get so embarrassed about it). Johnny sees us and says "Ew! When I grow up to be daddy, I'm not going to kiss girls". Me: "Oh yes you will. You just wait and see"
Love you Johnny. Wish you'd stay this cute forever.
